Flock of Seagulls van stolen in Downey per reports in the LA Times<\/a>. \u00a0 You read that right, Flock of Seagulls, the great 80’s band that inspired the name for our blog, Flock of Legals, has just been the victim of a crime in Downey, California. \u00a0 According to the reports, the band had just finished a gig in Bellflower and the van and it’s contents were stolen at the Comfort Inn in Downey, California. \u00a0 Live video of the theft has been posted on Youtube<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Whoever committed this crime probably has no idea they stole from one of the greatest 80’s bands. \u00a0 Or maybe it was an inside job and the thieves knew exactly who they were stealing from and what they were taking. \u00a0Either way, it’s a serious crime with an estimated loss of over $70,000. \u00a0 Band members reportedly lost equipment, cell phones, personal property, and recordings of unreleased material. \u00a0 That’s right, some thief is cruising around listening to the next “I Ran”<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Flock of Seagulls van stolen-the perfect crime? or the perfect storm for media coverage?<\/h1>\n

The internet is currently exploding with stories of Flock of Seagulls van stolen. \u00a0 The media appeal is massive as America loves an 80’s band with awesome hair, America loves celebrity news<\/a>, and America loves crime videos<\/a>. \u00a0 This case has it all wrapped into one. \u00a0 We are also hearing an unending supply of bad jokes with puns based on the well known lyrics of Flock of Seagulls songs. \u00a0Yes the thieves ran, they ran so far away. \u00a0 \u00a0But this is no space age love song<\/a>, this is true crime. \u00a0 The Flock of Seagulls van has been stolen, it was caught on video and now I’m blogging about \u00a0the crime here on my criminal defense blog called Flock of Legals. \u00a0 Oh the irony! We can only hope Flock of Seagulls gets back their gear and recordings, not to mention the van. \u00a0 If nothing else, maybe this case will prove the classic marketing principle of “any publicity is good publicity.” \u00a0If this news coverage drives up album or ticket sales for the Flock, I’m all for it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
